Liverpool are interested in signing Domenico Berardi from Sassuolo, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport (print edition, page 11, June 18, 2021).
What’s the story?
The report in the Italian publication has claimed that Liverpool are showing interest in Berardi.
Sassuolo expect the Italy international winger to leave.
However, the Italian club will not sell the 26-year-old, who can also operate as a forward, on the cheap.
Sassuolo will demand as much as €50 million (£42.92 million) as transfer fee for Berardi.
How good is Domenico Berardi?
Berardi has been on the books of Sassuolo his entire professional club football career so far.
The 26-year-old is an established Italy international who is starring for his country at Euro 2020.
The attacker has provided two assists in two games for the former world champions at the European Championship so far.
Berardi scored 17 goals and gave seven assists in Serie A last season.
The Italian scored 14 goals and gave 10 assists in the league in 2019-20.

What’s been said?
Legendary Italian manager Arrigo Sacchi rates the winger highly.
FourFourTwo quoted Sacchi as saying about Berardi in February 2014: ”Berardi is a player of great talent, a modern footballer who plays for the team all over the field.
“He has liveliness, intuition, temperament and strength combined with a good technique.”
In May 2019, Berardi said that he would love to join Liverpool.
As we covered here on HITC Sport at the time, the winger told TMW: “If an offer arrives, be it from Milan or another club, I will evaluate it with my club.
“Being able to choose, I would play in Liverpool. Changing remains difficult for me, but it no longer frightens me, I would do it.”
Berardi has grown over the years and can score goals and creates chances.
The Italian would make Liverpool better and more potent in attack.
