Ryan Mason hasn’t got long to assess his Spurs squad as he takes charge between now and the end of the season, but one man who he’s seemingly made his mind up on is Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
They say first impressions are important, and the Danish midfielder seemingly made the perfect impression on Mason back in December.
The midfielder spoke to the U18s at the training ground back in 2020, and Mason was very impressed by how eloquent he was.
“Pierre is a very, very intelligent man, he’s made a massive impression on me and I’m sure all the players as well, because the way he spoke, the passion and the obsession he has for football, it’s admirable, and we’re very lucky that he’s representing our football club,” Mason said.
“He’s said that the door is always open for our young players to go and speak to him and ask for advice or help – I know that’s the case throughout the first team squad as well – so we’ve got some very good role models at our football club.”

Mason will of course know a number of the Spurs squad from his playing days, but there are a number of fresh faces in that dressing room.
He’ll have to make his mind up on these players in the coming days, but it seems as though he’s already a big fan of Hojbjerg.
It seems as though the former Southampton man could be set to have a big part to play between now and the end of the season.
