Speaking to Tottenham’s official website, Ryan Mason has waxed lyrical about Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg after he hosted a discussion session with the U18s and the first-team star at the club’s training ground.

Mason is currently the Head of Player Development at Spurs, and this week he had the opportunity to listen to Hojbjerg as the youth players got a chance to ask him questions.

It seems as though Mason was blown away by what Hojbjerg was saying to the youth team as he’s said he made a massive impression on him, while also praising the way he spoke with passion.

“Pierre is a very, very intelligent man, he’s made a massive impression on me and I’m sure all the players as well, because the way he spoke, the passion and the obsession he has for football, it’s admirable, and we’re very lucky that he’s representing our football club,” Mason said.

“He’s said that the door is always open for our young players to go and speak to him and ask for advice or help – I know that’s the case throughout the first team squad as well – so we’ve got some very good role models at our football club.

“Pierre is a top professional and a top player and we’re extremely lucky to have been able to hear from him today.”

Hojbjerg has been earning so many plaudits for what he has done on the pitch, but it seems as though he’s having a similar impact off of it.

Tottenham have a number of talented young players coming through right now, with the likes of Dane Scarlett and Troy Parrott looking like very promising prospects, and they need solid role models in the first-team to look up to.

Fortunately, it seems as though Hojbjerg is that man, and that is brilliant to hear.

If Harry Kane is ever out of action for any reason it seems as though Hojbjerg would be a great candidate to become Tottenham’s stand-in captain.
