Napoli director Cristiano Giuntoli has lauded the club’s business in their deal to sign Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, who joined the Italian giants on loan with an option to buy over the summer.

Speaking to Kiss Kiss Radio via CalcioNapoli24, the Serie A official spoke of his delight in getting a deal over the line for Ndombele, with the midfielder impressing in his first few games for Napoli, with the Frenchman’s thunderbolt goal in a pre-season friendly going viral on social media.

Signed by Tottenham for a reported club-record fee of £55m, Ndombele never got going in north London despite having all the qualities and potential to become a superstar in the Premier League, with former Napoli midfielder Salvatore Bagni even labelling the 25-year-old as a ‘phenomenon’ ahead of his move to Italy.

With Napoli’s UEFA Champions League campaign kicking off this week, Ndombele could play a big role for Luciano Spalleti’s side in the coming months, and officials at the club seem to be excited about the potential upside the Tottenham midfielder’s arrival will have in the future.

Giuntoli said about Napoli signing Ndombele: “We wanted Tanguy Ndombele for a long time. We held talks with Tottenham a few years ago but now the great relationship with their board helped us reach a loan agreement with an option to buy. We’re very happy with the business we have done.”

Ndombele’s career since leaving Olympique Lyonnais has been nothing short of a disaster, with the once-promising French midfielder having his footballing life stall in a massive way ever since signing for Tottenham, yet joining Napoli and playing for the Italian giants could revive the 25-year-old.

After all, Serie A is the perfect league for Ndombele’s elegant and creative style of play, and for a club as expansive and entertaining as Napoli, the Tottenham outcast is at the perfect team to bring the best of his qualities out, and Spurs could soon regret allowing the Italian side to have an option to buy in his loan deal.
