Mark Schwarzer says Brighton star and Newcastle United transfer target, Alexis Mac Allister, would be a ‘very, very good’ signing for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool after they pulled out of the race for Jude Bellingham.

It was the news Liverpool fans were dreading, but it’s been suggested that they have decided to back away from trying to sign Jude Bellingham during the summer transfer window.

As a result, other names will need to be looked at and former Premier League goalkeeper, Mark Schwarzer, says Alexis Mac Allister is a ‘great shout’ for a player that can come in during the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old’s stock is pretty high at the moment, months after winning the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with Argentina, he is now being tipped to play for some of the best in the Premier League next season.

A certain Newcastle United, who could replace Liverpool in the Champions League next season, are another team that has taken a liking to Mac Allister – it’s been suggested that the ‘incredible’ midfielder is ready to leave Brighton.

Nonetheless, Mark Schwarzer spoke about how Mac Allister has been ‘unbelievable’, as he backed a possible transfer to Merseyside, as he told the Football Show on Sky Sports News (12/04/23).

“I think Mac Allister is a great shout,” said Schwarzer. “I think Mac Allister was unbelievable for Argentina at the World Cup. I think he would be a very, very good signing for Liverpool, if that was possible.”

BRIGHTON’S TALENT POOL

You have to probably feel a little bit sorry for Brighton because, any time their players perform, they are linked to other clubs left, right and centre.

In the summer, they lost Yves Bissouma to Tottenham, Marc Cucurella to Chelsea, Neal Maupay to Everton and then Graham Potter to Chelsea – but looking back on those, they are probably laughing all the way to the bank.

But Leandro Trossard, who left in January, was another name that departed, yet despite losing their top-scorer, they still managed to take their game to another level and now they are pushing for a possible top-four finish.
