Memphis Depay has decided not to leave Barcelona in the middle of the season, according to MundoDeportivo, amid interest from Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur.

MundoDeportivo have reported that Turkish giants Galatasaray have made contact in regard to signing Depay from Barcelona in the January transfer window.

The former Manchester United forward does not want to leave Barca in the middle of the season and wants to stay at Camp Nou until the summer of 2023.

Memphis Depay stance blow for Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur

The 28-year-old’s stance, as reported by MundoDeportivo, will come as a blow for both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

Both the North London clubs have been linked with moves for the Netherlands international forward, who played at the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

Earlier this week, TuttoJuve reported that Arsenal are planning to make a low offer for Depay in the January transfer window.

Then Sport claimed that Tottenham have already made an offer to the 28-year-old.

Now, Spurs do have a good attacking lineup and could do without Depay in the short term, but Arsenal could do with finding a replacement for Gabriel Jesus while the Brazil international striker is out.

Described as “very fast” and “dangerous” by former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas in Sport in August 2021, Depay has a lot of experience and is able to play a fluid role in attack.
