Former Rangers goalkeeper Boni Ginzburg has told The Scottish Sun that Liel Abada should be a success at Celtic as the Maccabi Petah Tikva winger is ‘very clinical’ in front of goal.
Ange Postecoglou wants to make Abada one of his first signings since arriving at Parkhead. The Scottish Sun report the Hoops are in advanced negotiations with his Israeli outfit over a £3.5m deal, with a four-year contract ready for the winger to sign.
Abada will become a Celtic player barring any late hiccups, with clubs in France and Belgium also interested. Dynamo Kiev also sought his signature in January, but a big money transfer collapsed. While One reported in April that Tottenham Hotspur were keen, as well.
But Israeli publication One now claim Abada is heading for Scotland to sign for Celtic. And Ginzburg expects he will be a big hit at Parkhead.
“Liel can play on the wing or through the middle as a striker,” Ginzburg said. “He can do a good job on the flanks or in the centre. I like him, he’s a good player. Liel has great pace and always causes problems for defences. But when he gets a chance, he is also very clinical.”
Ginzburg also noted: “I believe Liel would adapt to Scottish football. He is not a big guy, but he is strong. You have to consider that Celtic will normally be the dominant team in most games. Like Rangers, they always create a lot of chances against the opposition in Scotland.
“If that’s the case, Liel will score. He is very dangerous in front of goal. He is a good player, and he has a lot of potential. It will be a good experience for him to go to Celtic.”

Celtic are seemingly signing exciting potential in Abada, who Ginzburg backs to be a success under Postecoglou. The ex-Rangers goalkeeper knows the Maccabi Petah Tikva talent well, with him now a pundit back in Israel and having watched his rise closely.
Abada’s rise also featured a maiden senior international cap in June, after a strong season domestically. The 5 ft 6 winger offered 13 goals and four assists in all competitions last term, which Postecoglou will hope he can now replicate in the Premiership.
Postecoglou will likely also be eager to work with Abada as the teenager can operate across the Celtic frontline. While Ginzburg’s glowing endorsement of his fledgling talents give the Hoops plenty of reason to be excited about Abada’s arrival.
