Mikel Arteta has stated that he has always had ‘very boring’ press conferences as Arsenal manager after a ‘really bizarre’ situation involving Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham Hotspur.
Whilst Arsenal are in America for their pre-season tour, their London rivals are in Bangkok and Tottenham’s new manager was confronted by a German-based journalist during his presser, who proceeded to present him with a Bayern Munich shirt with Harry Kane’s name at the back.
Understandably so, Ange Postecoglou didn’t take it well and Mikel Arteta was asked about it during his post-match press conference after his side’s defeat to Manchester United on Sunday morning (UK time).
Luckily for him, no-one is trying to prize away his star assets from the Emirates, but the same can’t be said for Spurs and Kane.
Bayern Munich are pushing hard to sign the England captain this summer, with his current contract due to expire next summer.
But whilst the rumours swirl around about the 29-year-old, that German reporter’s actions were uncalled for, as Arteta was asked about it in his own presser.

Journalist’s question: “My second question for you is that your rival manager, Ange Postecoglou, had a really bizarre press conference situation today where someone posted a Harry Kane jersey in Bayern Munich shirt. Have you had any crazy press conferences that you can remember?”
“And with the second (question), no,” responded Arteta. “Probably very boring press conferences that I can produce.”

Postecoglou’s right to be annoyed
Managers can expect to be asked about transfers, other players possibly joining them or their players leaving. That’s normal.
But for someone to present the Spurs boss with a Bayern Munich-themed Kane shirt is pretty ridiculous.
And it’s fair to say that every single manager, if put in that situation, would react how Postecoglou did and that’s be annoyed to the highest order.
