There has been a real race for Gabriel Jesus’ signature this summer as Chelsea, Tottenham and Real Madrid have all circled the Brazilian at various points.
However, it now seems as though Arsenal have finally won the race for his signature.
Indeed, according to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City and Arsenal have reached a verbal agreement over Jesus, stating that a £45m fee has been agreed.
Arsenal just need to finalise personal terms with Jesus, and, based on past reports, that shouldn’t be too difficult.
Indeed, according to David Ornstein, these terms were agreed months ago with Jesus’ agents, so this may just be a case of crossing the Ts and dotting the Is before this transfer is announced.
Jesus, played a key role in City’s title win last season, and while he didn’t start on a weekly basis, he turned up when it mattered and scored some very important goals.
£45m is something of a steep fee for a player who is entering the final year of his contract, but Jesus is a proven source of goals at Premier League level and at the age of just 25, he’s got plenty of room to improve as well.
Factor in that Mikel Arteta knows the Brazilian well from his time at Manchester City, and this transfer may well be a recipe for success.
Arsenal have been desperate for a new number nine this summer, and it looks like they’ve got their man.
