Arsenal is a move that appeals to Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus this summer as Edu looks to bring him to North London.
The Gunners are desperate for a couple of striker signings this summer with Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah out of contract this summer.
A host of names have been linked with Jesus is one that has suddenly come to the fore.
The Athletic claimed that Arsenal are leading the race for Jesus. It was added that Edu has been in talks with the striker’s representatives for ‘a number of months’.
The Athletic’s David Ornstein has now made further claims about Arsenal’s interest in signing Jesus.
Speaking on The Athletic Football Podcast, Ornstein suggested that Arsenal have been fans of Jesus for some time now.
It’s claimed that Edu is close with the striker’s representatives and talks with them are now ‘pretty much done and dusted’.
Ornstein added that the early signs are that Jesus would indeed be interested in signing for Arsenal this summer.
“Arsenal have been fans of him for a while,” said Ornstein. “Mikel Arteta knows him well from working at City, Edu knows him well because he is also Brazilian of course, Edu is close to the representatives of Gabriel Jesus from the time that Edu spent working at Corinthians and of course the Brazil national team.”
“I understand that they have been talking for a number of months about this possibility, to the extent that that part of negotiations, from what I hear, is pretty much done and dusted.”
“But there has been no contact – to my knowledge so far – between the clubs, so that’s obviously a significant step that would need to be taken, but the early indications are that this is a move that Gabriel Jesus would be open to,” he added.

Praised as ‘fantastic’ by boss Pep Guardiola, Jesus hasn’t always been clinical at City.
After a hot start in 2017, Jesus has sometimes blown hot and cold in front of goal.
On Saturday though, Jesus reminded everybody of his quality by scoring four goals against Watford.
Even though one goal was a penalty, Jesus won it. Rodri also scored in that 5-1 win with Jesus setting him up.
That was a great reminder of his quality, but it still looks like Jesus will be leaving City soon.
Out of contract in 2023, Jesus doesn’t look likely to sign a new deal. City will therefore surely sell this summer before Jesus can leave for nothing.
Arsenal now appear to be in the box seat, with Jesus potentially in line for a starring role there rather than being in and out at City.
