Giovanni van Bronckhorst is under intense pressure at Rangers following a dismal run of results so far this season.
The Dutchman has overseen the worst Champions League campaign in history, sending Rangers out of Europe with no wins from six group games and 22 goals conceded – the Bears only scored twice themselves.
Van Bronckhorst also has Rangers sat seven points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.
Now, the 47-year-old has said something that will make Rangers fans even angrier.
Van Bronckhorst is running out of ideas at Rangers
Well, we understand that Van Bronckhorst is now in defence mode during his media duties, although he has made himself look a bit foolish with his latest excuse.
In his press conference earlier today ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Hearts, the Dutchman used last season’s six-point gap over Celtic, which Rangers eventually chucked away, as reason to believe things can change in football.
Of course, Van Bronckhorst was attempting to say that he can turn things around, although using an example of when you’ve done a terrible job the season beforehand is not exactly the best way to portray your managerial ability.

As quoted by The Athletic, he said: “Anything can change in football. Last season we had a six-point gap.”
To make that remark sound even more bizarre, the gap was mostly created by Steven Gerrard before he chose to leave for Aston Villa.
Clearly, Van Bronckhorst is clutching at straws, and it may not be much longer until he receives his P45 at Ibrox.
Who could replace Van Bronckhorst at Rangers
Those in the Premier League have been busy handing out P45s this season, which has freed up a lot of decent managers to go to Rangers.
The likes of Scott Parker, Ralph Hasenhuttl and Bruno Lage are available – as is Gerrard, although we doubt he would be a popular choice given the manner of his departure.
There is also Sean Dyche, who boasts strong pedigree after guiding Burnley to the Europa League in 2018.
There are plenty of options out there for Rangers, and if Van Bronckhorst suffers defeat to Hearts on Wednesday, it could be curtains for the Dutchman in Glasgow.
