The United States men’s national team defeated Bosnia and Herzegovina 2-0 in the Round of 32 at the 2026 World Cup.

Folarin Balogun, who was later sent off, scored just before halftime, while Malik Tillman scored a late free-kick.

It was the USA’s first victory in the knockout rounds since the 2002 World Cup in South Korea and Japan.

American sports fans clearly recognised the significance of the event, with millions watching the game on Fox Sports.

The USMNT’s win against Bosnia broke TV ratings records, and those records could be broken again soon.

Fox Sports confirms record-breaking audience for USMNT’s World Cup win over Bosnia

Fox Sports has just announced the TV ratings for USMNT’s victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina on Wednesday night.

24.429 million people watched the Round of 32 match, with a peak audience of 31.883 million between 9:45 and 10 pm (ET).

Fox’s broadcast broke the record for the most-watched English-language telecast in United States football history.

The TV ratings demonstrate the growing popularity of football in the US and the belief in Mauricio Pochettino’s team.

The USMNT’s next match against Belgium in the Round of 16 will take place at 8 pm (ET) at Seattle’s Lumen Field.

Given that the USA are a step closer to the World Cup final, one would expect the viewership record to be broken again.

Meanwhile, previous reports have suggested that the World Cup final could deliver ‘NFL-like’ figures if the USMNT are playing.

If Pochettino’s team can reach the final at MetLife Stadium, it could be one of the nation’s greatest sporting achievements.
