The World Cup has come to an end for the USMNT following their defeat on Monday against Belgium.

A lot of supporters were hoping to see Christian Pulisic ball out at this summer’s tournament, but it turned out to be a pretty underwhelming few weeks for the forward.

Pulisic played four times at this summer’s World Cup, yet all he managed to return was one assist across those four appearances.

What will Donald Trump have to say to get them out of this one? 👀

Folarin Balogun and Malik Tillman proved the real stars for Mauricio Pochettino as they scored five goals between them.

With a sense of disappointment over the 27-year-old’s performances, NFL fans have been sharing their thoughts on what American Football player Pulisic reminds them of.

It must be noted that Pulisic was suffering from an injury issue throughout the tournament, which saw the winger miss the group stage game against Australia.

However, it was a disappointing display from Pulisic, with fans across the nation expecting a lot more from their ‘Captain America’.

Former NFL Network sportscaster Lindsay Rhodes asked the question on X, ‘Who is the NFL player equivalent to Christian Pulisic?’

“Kyler Murray or JJ McCarthy. Overrated and shrink in big moments,” replied one fan.

Sticking with the quarterback theme, another fan said: “Justin Herbert! Always expecting more but he is who he is and that’s ok. I guess.”

Replying with a gif of Tua Tagovailoa, one USMNT fan replied: “Always hurt, overhyped and pretty much just an ok player when it’s all said and done.”

Pulisic is comfortably the USMNT’s highest earner, with Weston McKennie coming in at number two.

Moving away from the quarterback comparisons, another fan likened Pulisic to former Dallas Cowboys defensive end Jadeveon Clowney: “Jadeveon Clowney. Unreal hype. Little production. Most ardent supporters point to advanced analytics to show his worth.”

Sticking with the Cowboys, one fan even said this: “Dak Prescott. Overhyped. Not good under pressure.”

“Kyler Murray. Both should have played baseball,” said another fan, with Murray’s name coming up for the second time.

By the time the next World Cup comes around, Pulisic will be 31 years of age, which will raise the question of what level of performance he will be able to bring in 2030.
