Jose Enrique has posted on Instagram that it is for the ‘best’ if Xherdan Shaqiri leaves Liverpool.

The former Reds left-back thinks that Liverpool can use that money to sign a ‘big player’ instead.

It has been three years since Liverpool snapped up Shaqiri’s talents from then-relegated Stoke and it simply hasn’t worked out for the player.

Rumours have been surfacing that the 29-year-old could leave Anfield this summer, as he continues to struggle in finding form, rhythm or game time on Merseyside.

And Enrique, whilst commenting on a post on Liverpool Goals Instagram page, thinks the left-footed technician should be sold.

“If we can make good money for him I believe it’s the best for both sides,” said Enrique. “Hopefully, we use that money to sign a big player.”

There are several players in the same boat as Shaqiri, who have been at the club for several years, but just aren’t regulars.

And given that Liverpool stagnated last season, before recovering to maintain their Champions League status, it’s pretty obvious that the squad needs refreshing.

From the likes of Divock Origi to Naby Keita, if they aren’t sold this summer then the forthcoming campaign will seemingly be their last chance saloon under Jurgen Klopp.

Diogo Jota proved last season that having such an impact from the bench can be done and he also showed that more fresh faces need to be brought in to challenge and help the regulars who have thrived for several years now.
