The Romanian playmaker may be more trouble than it’s worth for Leeds United.
Leeds United have been linked with a move for Romanian international Alexandru Maxim this month.
What was ran as an opinion piece by HITC back in December soon became reality, with Maxim’s agent confirming to Stuttgarter Nachrichten that the Yorkshire club were keen on the player and the Yorkshire Evening Post reporting that Garry Monk had a look at the player in the summer.
But it was recently reported in Romania by Evenimentl Zilei that Leeds would not be willing to meet the financial obligations that Maxim wanted.

Now it seems he could be off to Mexico.
In a strange twist it is being reported by Record in Mexico that Maxim is wanted by Club America in the Liga MX.
A Romanian in Mexico may sound odd, but Maxim headed to Spain to join Espanyol at 17, where he worked with Leeds United assistant Pep Clotet. He spent four years in Spain and speaks the language fluently – which would help him make such a move.

However, Stuttgart’s sporting director Jan Schindelmeiser has since told ZVW that there has been no official approach for the player:
“We have not had an official request from Mexico before.”
Maxim’s future seems to be something of a mess and Leeds would be making the right decision if they just stepped aside for the time being.
