Kieran Trippier has agreed to join Bayern Munich, but Newcastle have rejected an initial approach from the German champions, HITC Football understands.
HITC Football confirmed earlier this week Bayern’s interest in landing Trippier, and it was believed that Newcastle would consider letting their captain leave – but they have now said no.

Trippier’s personal terms would not be an issue for Bayern, who spoke with the England defender’s camp to check on his willingness to move and he has confirmed he would indeed be ready to move to Munich – where he could link-up with England team-mates Harry Kane and Eric Dier.
Kane link-up
Trippier has a close relationship with Kane, having spent time with him at Tottenham as well as with England.
“He is special and I am privileged to have played with him for club and country,” Trippier said in 2022 ahead of the World Cup.
“He’s a top pro and a great leader. When you need somebody to score a goal, he’s there.”
Bayern were happy to do a permanent move, or a loan with an obligation – but Newcastle are seemingly not willing to do a deal.
Mukiele remains first choice
Whilst talks are ongoing with Newcastle and Trippier, HITC also understands that Bayern are continuing talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a deal for French international Nordi Mukiele and it is understood that he would be the preferred option for the German champions – given his age and ability to play centrally too.
But Bayern have spent the week in talks with PSG but they not make the progress with a deal they had hoped, which is why they have turned to Trippier – who, as HITC revealed, is an option for PSG should they let Mukiele leave.
