Jamie Carragher has said on Sky Sports Premier League (10:22pm, March 17, 2023) that Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United could have an advantage over Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur and Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in the race for the Premier League top four this season.
The former Liverpool defender has noted that there is “unrest” at the Reds and at Tottenham.
Carragher has observed that Liverpool are not always consistent in their performances.
As for Tottenham, the Sky Sports pundit has noted that there is uncertainty over the future of head coach Antonio Conte.
Carragher made the comments about Newcastle after the match against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Friday evening.
Eddie Howe’s side beat Forest 2-1 in the Premier League last night.

Newcastle are fifth in the Premier League table at the moment with 47 points from 26 matches,
Tottenham are fourth with 48 points from 27 games.
Liverpool are now sixth with 42 points from 26 games.
Jamie Carragher on Liverpool, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur
Carragher said: “What I would say about Tottenham and Liverpool – the two teams Gary probably fancies to finish above Newcastle – it feels like there is a bit of unrest at both clubs.
“You look at Tottenham with the manger and Liverpool at the moment producing performances you can’t quite believe. I don’t think you get that with Newcastle.
“When I watch them and they don’t win it is still a really good performance – they went to Man City and the chances they missed.
“I very rarely watch Newcastle and feel unimpressed.”
Exciting race for the top four
In our view, the race for the Premier League top four this season is going to be very exciting.
Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are in the race, and you cannot say for sure that Manchester United will end up in the UEFA Champions League places for sure.
Brighton and Hove Albion, Fulham and Brentford could also fancy a late push for the top four.
It is going to be fascinating.
