Gabriel Magalhães has taken to Twitter after Arsenal announced that Eddie Nketiah had signed a new five-year contract.
Instead of posting the typical congratulatory message, the £25m Brazilian seemed to criticise some Arsenal fans for the way in which they reacted to the news.
What’s the story?
Well, Gabriel appeared to call some Arsenal fans “ungrateful” after a few reacted badly to the news of Nketiah staying at the Emirates Stadium.
Initially, it could be thought that his tweet was about something else, but the 24-year-old then liked a number of comments supporting Nketiah, so it seems he was taking aim at those who were annoyed by the news.
You can see Gabriel’s tweet in full below, as well as an example of the posts he liked.
Clearly, the South American was hurt to see supporters moan about the Nketiah news, and decided to leap to his teammate’s defence in admirable fashion.
It is nice to see that from Gabriel, who is justified in his outrage.
Arsenal right to keep Eddie Nketiah

We’re not sure why some supporters are displeased by this news.
Of course, Mikel Arteta still needs to sign another striker, and he seems all too aware of that as he closes in on a £50m move for Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus.
In our view, had a deal for Jesus been announced before this news, then Arsenal fans would’ve responded better.
We understand some are upset by the fact Nketiah has taken the iconic No.14 shirt, but if he goes on to thrive in it, then what’s the problem?

Nketiah ended the season in scintillating style, scoring five goals in the last seven Premier League games to help Arsenal finish fifth.
He is also the all-time top scorer for England’s Under-21 side with 16 goals in 17 games, breaking Alan Shearer’s record, while his best years are still to come at the age of just 23.
With everything taken into consideration, this is a smart move by Arsenal, and Gabriel is right to defend Nketiah.
