Speaking on The Big Interview with Graham Hunter, Luuk De Jong has been waxing-lyrical about his namesake and reported Liverpool target Frenkie De Jong.
The former Newcastle man was asked about some of the most talented players he’s ever worked alongside, and he was quick to name the Barcelona midfielder as one of his favourite teammates.
Indeed, he says that De Jong is the absolute master of creating and exploiting space, stating that he’s capable of replicating any footage that is shown to him before a match.
What’s been said?
De Jong praised the former Ajax man.
“You have Frenkie De Jong and, for me, he is one of the most talented players. He is always looking for spaces that are free and luring players out to create more space in behind, if he can dribble past some players, he can create more spaces. If you show him footage before a game, he can do it in a game, it’s unbelievable, he has such quality,” De Jong said.

Imagine him under Klopp
De Jong has been linked to Liverpool, and the prospect of a player like this playing under Jurgen Klopp is scintillating.
His Barcelona teammate says that he can replicate any mover after being told what to do, and a coach like Klopp would know how to get the best out of him.
Factor in the pairing that he could have in the midfield with Thiago Alcantara, and you have a genuinely frightening prospect.
Of course, landing De Jong won’t be easy for Liverpool, but if they do, they will be getting another truly incredible footballer.
