Speaking on the Leg It podcast, Liverpool scout Ian Barrigan has spoken very highly of Conor Coady when discussing the time he spent at the Liverpool academy as a youngster.
Barrigan worked very closely with Coady when he was on the books at Liverpool, and he discussed his career since leaving the Reds in his recent podcast appearance.
“You always knew that Conor would make it at some level because he’s such an unbelievable character” Barrigan said (Leg it Podcast 50:00)
“When we go on about determination, motivation, to be honest I think Conor has got to be one of the most dedicated, nicest people, hardest working, genuine lads. You know he’s a great kid.”

It’s great to hear Barrigan speaking so highly of his former academy prospect.
However, you have to ask the question, why was he let go?
Coady clearly had a lot of attributes that Liverpool were looking for and the fact that he has now become a bona fide England international shows that the Reds made the wrong call.
In fact, the Merseyside outfit have since been linked with a move to re-sign Coady, with ex-players, fans and even Coady himself discussing a potential return to Liverpool.
Whether or not such a move materialises remains to be seen, but it’s clear to see that one of the most trusted scouts at the club rates him very highly.
Perhaps these comments will make Jurgen Klopp and Michael Edwards take notice and work towards bringing him back to the club where he started his career.
