Some Arsenal fans on social media have been reacting after Christopher Nkunku netted a hat-trick against Manchester City in the Champions League.
The Frenchman looked like a quality player against City, and while his side shipped six goals, the Leipzig ace was a real bright spark.
So, why do Arsenal fans care about his performance? Well the Gunners wanted him when he was a youngster, with Unai Emery reportedly being very keen to sign him during his tenure.
There are so many stories of players Arsene Wenger almost signed for Arsenal, but it seems as though Nkunku could be the most famous example of a player who slipped through Emery’s fingers.
Arsenal supporters certainly seem to be regretting the fact that they didn’t bring Nkunku to the Emirates at the time, and who knows? Perhaps if Emery had been able to sign Nkunku he’d still be in a job to this day.
You have to be a very special player to score a hat trick against Pep Guardiola’s Man City, and Nkunku looks to be a real talent.
