AS Roma have reportedly agreed a deal with Chelsea for Arsenal target Tammy Abraham.
According to Sky Sports News, the Serie A side have agreed a deal with the west London club to sign the 23-year-old England striker for a reported £34m.
As per the report, Chelsea were more open to selling Abraham to a foreign club rather than a direct Premier League rival. The Gunners were keen on the attacker, as were Atalanta.
The deal comes as a double blow for Arsenal as the club were in lengthy discussions with Roma over the sale of Granit Xhaka.
Indeed, Jose Mourinho’s side were interested in the Swiss international and personal terms had been agreed upon by Xhaka and Roma. However, the Italian side couldn’t offer a suitable transfer fee for Arsenal.
Reports vary on how much the north London side wanted for Xhaka with fees ranging from £12m to £20m. Moreover, the midfielder now looks set to sign a new long-term contract with Arsenal following these collapsed talks.
This summer looked to be the window that Xhaka would leave Arsenal. However, the situation has taken a complete 180 with the 28-year-old midfielder now set to remain with the Gunners for the long run.
And on social media, fans were fuming at the club for not being able to sell Xhaka to Roma with the Italian side now set to spend a hefty fee for Abraham.
