Marc Cucurella joining Chelsea looks to be very close, with Tottenham Hotspur set to miss out on the player.

The Brighton & Hove Albion left-back is heavily linked with a transfer to Stamford Bridge.

Tottenham have been linked in July but despite the Seagulls publicly denying speculation that a move to Chelsea has been agreed, it’s looking increasingly likely.

Fabrizio Romano sent a tweet in the early hours of Friday morning, revealing that the Spain international – who has 35 Premier League games under his belt – has undergone a ‘perfect’ medical with the West London outfit ahead of what’ll be a £62 million transfer.

Marc Cucurella joining Chelsea?

Spurs won’t be overly disappointed.

Yes, he appeared to be a genuine target at one point last month but it looks like the Lilywhites are working on an alternative left-back at the moment.

According to Romano this week, Tottenham are in talks to sign Destiny Udogie.

Calciomercato double down on this by revealing that a £21 million transfer for the Udinese defender is in the offing and obviously if Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici get him, there’ll be zero need for Cucurella.

If and when Udogie is confirmed, that might well offset the departure of Sergio Reguilon.

The Spanish left-back, who joined from Real Madrid in 2020, is heavily linked with a move away from Tottenham and the arrival of Udogie should, in theory, indicate that he’ll be leaving the Premier League.
