Swansea City and Stoke City have been linked with Brentford’s Ryan Woods.
Swansea City supporters have taken to Twitter to share their feelings as the latest news suggests reported target Ryan Woods is to join Stoke City on loan ahead of a potential £7 million fee.
HITC reported that Stoke have agreed a loan deal with the option to buy the Brentford man, weeks after Swansea City had a £6 million bid rejected for him during the transfer window.
Woods will join a struggling Stoke side who have yet to come to terms with their relegation to the Championship, while Swansea may regret not matching Brentford’s £7 million asking price for the midfielder.
Taking to Twitter upon hearing the news, several Swansea fans feel Stoke have got an excellent midfielder on their hands and are hoping the Swans don’t regret not bringing him to the Liberty Stadium.
Swansea have fared better than Stoke since the duo’s relegation from the Premier League last season, though we’re still very early into the Championship campaign and the Welsh side’s squad looks rather thin.
After selling Sam Clucas to Stoke during the transfer window, missing out on Woods and seeing him also join the Potters leaves them rather thin in midfield and lacking in Championship experience.
The Swans managed to sign both Barrie McKay and Bersant Celina during the summer, but both players are somewhat lightweight and may struggle when the games come thick and fast over the festive period.
Stoke in contrast have made numerous signings this summer and boss Gary Rowett now needs to find a way to integrate Woods into a midfield already containing Joe Allen, Clucas, Oghenekaro Etebo and Darren Fletcher among others.
The Potters have made an awful start to the season but Woods may help them gain more control in the midfield, something which has been evidently lacking during the opening four games of the campaign.
