Nottingham Forest are keen on adding creativity this summer.

According to reports by HITC and the Nottingham Post, Nottingham Forest are looking at signing Scunthorpe United and Peterborough United wingers Hakeeb Adelakun and Marcus Maddison this summer.

The Reds had a turbulent 2017/18 campaign, finishing in a lowly midtable position and swapping managers midway through the season as Aitor Karanka replaced the sacked Mark Warburton.

Forest fans will be keen to see their club put forward a proper plan and build next term, yet the players linked with a summer switch to the City Ground could even help them go beyond that.

It’s no big secret that Forest lacked goals last season, with a particular run under Aitor Karanka garnering the wrong sort of attention as they set a new recent record of successive matches without a goal.

Creativity was a big problem, and it seems Karanka is looking to eradicate that this summer with two potential signings in Adelakun and Maddison having the potential to make a huge difference.

Adelakun was Scunthorpe’s leading playmaker last term, registering five goals and an impressive 14 assists as the Irons reached the League One playoffs, succumbing to Rotherham United at the semi-final stage.

The 21-year-old is young, brave on the ball and possesses an abundance of pace. With his contract running out this summer, he potentially represents an absolute coup and one Forest shouldn’t miss out on.

Adelakun has had such an impressive campaign, yet Forest have also been linked with a player who toppled his record as Peterborough’s Marcus Maddison was the league’s outright top assist maker with 18.

The 24-year-old is another with bags of ability and huge potential, and with his contract running out in the summer of 2019, Posh may be willing to accept a reduced offer as they risk receiving nothing in 12 months’ time.

These two League One assist kings on either flank would give Forest the basis of a really exciting attacking threat, and with a solid defence behind them, the right sort of ingredients to make an assault on the top six.
