Barrie McKay struggled during Nottingham Forest’s 2-0 defeat at Millwall.
Nottingham Forest fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to lambast forward Barrie McKay’s disappointing performance in the 2-0 defeat at Millwall, with one supporter suggesting he return to Rangers.
The Scottish forward joined Forest from the Gers last summer, and initially looked like a bargain buy as he notched five goals and contributed with a further seven assists in just 20 Championship outings.
Then boss Mark Warburton worked with McKay at Ibrox and was confident the former Rangers man could adjust to life south of the border, yet despite initial promise his Forest career now appears in jeopardy.
Recently appointed boss Aitor Karanka evidently isn’t much of a fan, and when given the opportunity to stake his claim for a regular place in the starting XI, McKay has looked a shadow of his former self.

According to the table provided by Opta Stats, the 23-year-old struggled to make an impact against a well-drilled Millwall side, creating just one opportunity and failing to test the opposition goalkeeper.
The East Midlands side have struggled for goals over the past month, recording three successive 0-0 draws ahead of the Reds clash at the New Den, but one area they have excelled at is in defence.
The whole team works as a unit and keeps their defensive shape, yet against Millwall they struggled, and McKay looked weak out of possession as he failed to record any interceptions and lost three duels.
Karanka wasn’t happy with his contributions and replaced him after 55 minutes for the younger Matty Cash, much to the delight of the Forest fans as they prefer to see their academy products given a run out.
McKay has work to do at Forest, as a recent poll suggested 63% of those who voted would be happy to sell him this summer, while a separate poll claimed 50% of Rangers fans polled would take him back.
Taking to Twitter after the game, fans frustrations were obvious as many left south London disappointed.
