Sunderland have signed former Coventry City striker Marc McNulty.

Some supporters from Sunderland’s League One rivals such as Coventry City and Portsmouth have taken to Twitter to comment on confirmation of striker Marc McNulty’s move to the Stadium of Light.
Sunderland’s official website has confirmed McNulty has joined the Black Cats on a season-long loan deal.
The former Coventry striker fell out of favour at Reading after joining the Royals for a reported £1.2 million last summer, but a successful loan spell at Scottish side Hibernian last term showed his capabilities.
Sunderland are looking to put last season’s League One playoff final defeat behind them and secure automatic promotion this campaign. After too many draws last term, adding extra firepower up top was crucial.
Manager Jack Ross has potentially pulled off a real coup with McNulty, and supporters of Sunderland’s rivals have admitted as much on social media.
McNulty, 26, netted 28 times in 51 games during Coventry’s promotion from League Two.
At Hibs, he scored eight goals in 17 games, prompting manager Paul Heckingbottom to publicly announce his desire to sign the striker permanently in an interview with the BBC.

The Scottish club, however, seemingly couldn’t afford the player with Reading reportedly wanting to recoup the fee they paid for McNulty 12 months ago.
McNulty joins fellow former Coventry players Lee Burge and Jordan Willis at Sunderland.
