Rebeca Tavares, the wife of Liverpool midfielder Fabinho, has aimed a brutal jibe at Manchester City and their supposed lack of supporters.

As Liverpool celebrated their domestic double trophy parade on Sunday, she posted on Twitter, in regards to the high volume of Liverpool fans that turned up, ‘there are just some things that oil can’t buy’.

Whilst, for the last decade, Manchester City have dominated the domestic circuit, including winning four out of their last five Premier League titles, it has all started from the large sums of money that were pumped into the club from their Abu Dhabi-based owners back in 2008.

Before that, Manchester City used to bounce up and down the leagues and they weren’t regarded as one of the top teams in England.

That’s probably why the current champions get so much stick for having a smaller fanbase than others, especially their rivals.

Nonetheless, following the jibe by Fabinho’s wife, she responded further to the backlash by adding ‘the truth hurts’.

NO COMPARISON BETWEEN LIVERPOOL AND MAN CITY FANBASE

The fact that Man City have very little history, regardless of how much success they have has recently, it’s something that will be thrown at them time and time again.

Added with that, their fanbase will never compare to what Liverpool can generate for a trophy parade, as they proved yesterday.

It’s something money can’t buy, but those at the Etihad probably won’t care one jot because they were the ones who pipped Liverpool to the main crown once again last week.

And, in truth, given the way Man City are going under Pep Guardiola, they aren’t going to stop this domination of the domestic circuit in England any time soon.
