
Liverpool are believed to be closing in on signing Irish teenager Trent Kone-Doherty despite him heading to Celtic for training sessions.
That’s according to The Irish Independent, who claim that Kone-Doherty is expected to sign a pre-contract agreement with Liverpool.
Kone-Doherty only turns 16 this summer but isn’t blocked from moving to England before the age of 18, as many non-English talents are due to Brexit.
Derry City talent Kone-Doherty has been around the first team this season having caught the eye with goalscoring displays in the Under-15’s.
It’s claimed that Kone-Doherty has spent time training with Celtic but it’s Liverpool who have made an ‘assertive move’ to sign him.
Derry will claim a six-figure fee for Kone-Doherty, who now looks set for Liverpool instead of Celtic.
Primarily a winger who can play on either flank, Kone-Doherty appears set for a big future and is chancing his arm with a move to Merseyside.

Liverpool youngster Thomas Hill was born in nearby Formby but is now in the Ireland Under-21 squad, so Kone-Doherty will have a couple of players in the Irish setup around him.
Much like with Kaide Gordon, the hope is that Liverpool have found an exciting winger who can become an absolute star in the coming years.
It may be a while before we see Kone-Doherty in action for Liverpool given that he is just 15, but it’s another summer signing to get excited about as the Reds continue to look for exciting young talent.
One Trent has become a hero at Liverpool so let’s see if Kone-Doherty can follow in Alexander-Arnold’s footsteps.
