Anton Ferdinand has said on talkSPORT (7:33pm, July 3, 2022) that David Moyes’s West Ham United simply have to sign Jesse Lingard on a free transfer following his departure from Manchester United.

The former West Ham central defender has said that if £150,000 per week is what it takes for the Hammers to secure the services of Lingard in the summer transfer window, then the London club should get a done done.

The 29-year-old, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, is a free agent at the moment following his departure from Manchester United at the end of last month.

TalkSPORT journalist Alex Crook said on talkSPORT (9:40am, July 2, 2022) that Lingard prefers a move to West Ham to joining other clubs.

Crook added that the England international wants to be paid £150,000 per week as salary.

West Ham United told to sign Jesse Lingard

Ferdinand said about West Ham and Lingard on talkSPORT (7:33pm, July 3, 2022): “It will be a travesty if we don’t get him. If it is down to wages, travesty if we don’t get him.”

Could a transfer happen?

In our view, if West Ham United pay Jesse Lingard what he wants, then a transfer could well happen.

Yes, Tottenham Hotspur and Everton are interested in the attacker as well, but Lingard prefers a move to West Ham.

The former Manchester United player spent the second half of the 2020-21 season on loan at West Ham and did well at London Stadium, helping David Moyes’s side qualify for the Europa League.

Lingard has scored 29 goals and 21 big chances in 165 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.

During his loan spell at West Ham, the 29-year-old scored nine goals and gave four assists in 16 Premier League matches.
