David Ornstein has written in The Athletic today (Transfer Live blog, 9am, August 31, 2021) that Wolverhampton Wanderers want £50 million for Adama Traore amid interest from Nuno’s Tottenham Hotspur.
The well-known and well-respected journalist has claimed that Wolves will not sell Traore to Tottenham unless they get £50 million in transfer fee.
Sudden price hike
It seems that Wolves have suddenly increased their asking price of Traore.
90min reported on August 23 that Wolves were looking for £40 million to sell the 25-year-old Spain international winger.

Sensible stance?
It will be a blow for Spurs if they have to pay £50 million for Traore instead of £40 million.
However, from Wolves’ perspective, it makes perfect sense.
Wolves are an established club in the Premier League who are under no financial pressure to sell their best players.

It is now up to Tottenham to make a deal happen.
If Spurs want to sign Traore on summer transfer deadline day, then they simply have to pay £50 million.
Now, of course, you have to consider Traore’s desire.
The former Aston Villa winger may well be keen on a move to Spurs, but if Wolves will not sell him for anything less than £50 million, then there is nothing that he can do.
