Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool will take on Sean Dyche’s Everton at Anfield in the Merseyside derby on Saturday.

Liverpool have the better team and are favourites to win the Premier League match against Everton.

Everton do not have as good a team as Liverpool have, but they did win before the international break.

However, the harsh truth for Everton is that while Liverpool are aiming to win the Premier League title this season, the Toffees’ main objective this campaign is to avoid the dreaded drop to the Championship.

Jurgen Klopp on Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo vs Everton

Everton, though, will give their all against Liverpool, who could have Cody Gakpo back in action for the Merseyside derby.

The £120,000-a-week (Spotrac) Netherlands international returned to training in action after overcoming the injury he sustained in the fixture at Tottenham Hotspur in September.

Speaking on Friday, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said that the 24-year-old could play in the Merseyside derby against Everton.

Klopp said, as quoted on Liverpool’s official website: “Cody trained once with the team, so we have to see how that goes for tomorrow.”

No need to start Cody Gakpo vs Everton

I do not think that there is any need for Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp to include Cody Gakpo in the starting lineup against Everton at Anfield.

In my view, if Gakpo is passed fit to play in the Merseyside derby on Saturday, then he should start on the bench.

Klopp should bring him on as a substitute only if he has to.

Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah could be the starting front-three for Liverpool.

Gakpo is a very important player for Liverpool, and the Reds need to manage him carefully.

The Dutchman has made five starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League for Liverpool so far this season.

Gakpo has scored two goals in those games.
