Harry Kane has been mocked by Sean Dyche for his actions on Monday night as Tottenham and Everton played out a 1-1 draw.

What’s the story?

Well, the Tottenham No.10 was involved in an incident which saw Abdoulaye Doucoure receive a straight red card, after slapping the England international in the face.

It was undoubtedly a red card for the Frenchman, although much of the focus has actually been on Kane and the manner in which he fell to the ground.

The £200,000-a-week man was heavily criticised by many, and Dyche has now shared his thoughts on the Spurs talisman’s actions in typically blunt fashion.

As quoted Dominic King of the Daily Mail, the 51-year-old said: “I thought at one point he (Kane) might have snapped an eyelash, which would have been tragic. Abdoulaye certainly didn’t have to speak to the group to say anything.”

Clearly, Dyche has little sympathy for Kane, and does not hold any ill feelings towards Doucoure for his decision which ultimately made life harder for the Toffees in Monday’s clash at Goodison Park.

Only a moment of magic from Michael Keane in the 90th minute prevented Everton from suffering a 1-0 defeat.

Dyche right to criticise Kane – but you can see why he hit the deck

In our view, Dyche was right to mock Kane – it was an embarrassing moment for the England captain, with replays showing him falling to ground while holding the side of his face that wasn’t touched.

Nevertheless, you can understand why he felt the need to overexaggerate.

Even in the VAR era, we have seen honesty go unrewarded.

Players who have chosen to stay on their feet – rather than throw themselves to ground – have often not been given penalties that surely would have been awarded if they went down.

In truth, most footballers nowadays are probably told to go down by their managers.

Of course, Kane didn’t exactly cover himself in glory with his reaction, although you can certainly see why it almost came as second nature for him to hit the turf.
