Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has delivered an update on Harry Kane’s future and what Tottenham plan to do if he stays.

There have been a number of reports claiming that Kane is keen to leave Spurs this summer, so understandably, Romano has been speaking about the idea of the striker moving away from north London.

Spurs fans will be glad to know that Romano thinks that it will be hard for any club to sign Kane, and he’s now claiming that if the striker stays, Tottenham will offer him a new contract.

“It’s a difficult, difficult situation. So we need to wait on this position to see about the player and the club, but it is an open one,” Romano said.

“To say again about Tottenham. If Kane will stay, and is to stay at Tottenham, Tottenham will be prepared to offer him a new contract, and also remember that Heung-Min Son is also negotiating a new contract with Tottenham.

This is a very intriguing update.

Kane still has three years to run on his current deal, so offering him a new contract at this time isn’t necessary, but with reports circulating about his future, that would give Spurs some added security.

Of course, if Kane is in fact ‘desperate’ to leave, as some journalists suggest, then he won’t be keen to put pen to paper on a new deal, but as we all know by now, Daniel Levy can be very persuasive when he has to be.

This is certainly a situation to keep an eye on in the coming months.
