Tottenham could target Weston McKennie this summer if Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was to make a shock exit from North London.
Tottenham have swooped to sign a midfielder having landed Yves Bissouma from Brighton and Hove Albion.
Bissouma will add quality to Antonio Conte’s engine room, competing with the likes of Hojbjerg, Rodrigo Bentancur and Oliver Skipp.
Yet Tottenham could still be in the market for another midfielder this summer amid claims that Hojbjerg could be on the move.
Tottenham could target Weston McKennie
The Times reported a matter of days ago that Tottenham could sell Hojbjerg this summer in what would be a shock decision.
The 2020 signing from Southampton has played a key role for Tottenham and was a virtual ever-present under Conte.
A combative and tireless midfielder, Hojbjerg was expected to be important for Conte moving forward but that may not be the case.
Football London now report that, should Hojbjerg leave this summer – which they note would be a huge surprise – then Fabio Paratici could look towards Italy.
It’s suggested that Paratici would ‘likely’ go for Juventus midfielder McKennie to replace Hojbjerg if needed.

Paratici is understood to be a huge fan of McKennie having signed him for Juventus from Schalke.
Football London reported as much last week, suggesting that Paratici would like to sign McKennie – but that was before the deal for Bissouma went through.
Many would have thought that Bissouma’s arrival would effectively rule out a deal for McKennie given his nature as a box-to-box midfielder.
Yet with Hojbjerg’s future suddenly up in the air, McKennie may be the top name for Tottenham should they go back into the market for another midfielder.
The American, 23, was understood to be above Rodrigo Bentancur on Paratici’s January wish list but the pair could yet end up reuniting at Tottenham.
