Tottenham Hotspur like Weston McKennie but Juventus are now offering the midfielder to other clubs – such as Manchester United.

Fabio Paratici’s arrival as Tottenham’s director of football was always going to see Spurs look towards the Italian market.

Pierluigi Gollini and Cristian Romero arrived from Atalanta last summer, but it was only a matter of time until Tottenham raided Juventus.

Paratici secured two deals with his former club in January, snapping up Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski.

Those deals have worked well for Tottenham and they have fancied signing another Juventus man of late.

Tottenham Hotspur like Weston McKennie

The Daily Mail reported in late July that Tottenham are looking to sign Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie.

The problem was that McKennie wasn’t allowed to leave Juve because Paul Pogba’s injury left them short in midfield – especially with Arthur Melo and Adrien Rabiot surplus to requirements.

Paratici absolutely loves McKennie; Football London’s Alasdair Gold recently reported that Tottenham actually wanted McKennie ahead of Bentancur in January.

Football London even claimed that McKennie would likely be targeted if Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg left the club this summer.

Hojbjerg has stayed put though, and Tottenham may now find that McKennie ends up going elsewhere, leaving Paratici to miss out on a player he clearly loves.

The Telegraph claim that Juventus offered McKennie to Manchester United after their collapsed move for teammate Rabiot.

United have declined the opportunity to make a bid though, believing that box-to-box McKennie doesn’t fit their pursuit of a number six; more of a deep-lying playmaker.

Juventus are seemingly offering McKennie elsewhere and whilst United said no, another team may well take them up on the offer.

Paratici may love to bring McKennie to Tottenham but there just doesn’t seem to be room for him to arrive at this stage.

Hojbjerg, Bentancur, Oliver Skipp and new signing Yves Bissouma are all in the mix in midfield and if Tottenham are to add another midfielder, an attacking option like Russian Malinovskyi makes more sense than McKennie.

Unless something changes in the next couple of weeks, Paratici may well have to watch on as McKennie heads elsewhere and ends the Tottenham rumours once and for all.
