Tottenham Hotspur want Weston McKennie – but a deal could be kiboshed because Juventus have been hit with Paul Pogba’s injury.
Tottenham have brought in one midfielder this summer with Yves Bissouma arriving from Brighton and Hove Albion.
That’s a quality addition to Tottenham’s midfield ranks, and he will now compete with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Rodrigo Bentancur and Oliver Skipp moving forward.
You would now assume that Tottenham’s midfield recruitment is over, but Fabio Paratici may still have one more deal in mind before the deadline.
Tottenham Hotspur want Weston McKennie
The Daily Mail report that Tottenham are once again interested in signing Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie.
It’s stated that Tottenham have been chasing McKennie for more than a year now with Paratici a big fan.
That certainly lines up with what Football London’s Alasdair Gold reported in June, claiming that Paratici actually wanted McKennie ahead of Bentancur in January.
Football London also reported in June that Tottenham would likely push for McKennie’s signature if Hojbjerg was to leave.
This latest report claims that Juventus would be open to selling McKennie for around €40million (£34million) – but there is now a problem.

Juventus have brought in a new midfielder this summer with Paul Pogba arriving on a free transfer from Manchester United.
Yet Pogba has now suffered a knee injury and faces a spell on the sidelines, which provides a major hit to Massimiliano Allegri’s midfield ranks.
Arthur Melo and Adrien Rabiot are both available for transfer and it seems unlikely that Juventus would now let McKennie go too.
Hailed as ‘relentless’ by former US Under-20 coach Tab Ramos, McKennie is a box-to-box midfielder with real energy.
Tottenham may still hold out hope of a deal before the August deadline, but landing American international McKennie has just become much, much more complicated.
