Tottenham and West Ham have now been dealt a blow as Nicolo Zaniolo agrees to listen to Bournemouth.
What’s the story?
Well, it seems as if Antonio Conte and David Moyes could now lose out to Gary O’Neil in the race to sign the Italy international.
It was Media Foot who revealed that West Ham want Zaniolo, while Dharmesh Sheth of Sky Sports believes Spurs are keen.
However, Bournemouth have now made significant progress – according to 90min.
The story from 90min states that Tottenham were in talks with Roma over a loan deal for Zaniolo, as were AC Milan, although those discussions hit a brick wall.
Bournemouth also appeared to be getting nowhere despite Roma accepting a €35m (£30m) bid from the Cherries, as Zaniolo himself was not interested in a move to the Vitality Stadium.
Nevertheless, Bournemouth left their offer on the table for the 23-year-old to consider, and he has now began a U-turn by instructing his representatives to speak to the Cherries.
It would be quite the coup for Bournemouth and O’Neil – to say the least.
Zaniolo is one of the most highly rated talents in Italy, and scored the only goal in Roma’s 1-0 win against Feyenoord in the UEFA Europa Conference League final last season.
Tottenham & West Ham can surely convince Zaniolo
In our view, it would be remarkable if Tottenham or West Ham do not attempt to convince Zaniolo to join, given his U-turn on a move to Bournemouth.
With all due respect to the Cherries, the fact Roma’s No.22 has changed his mind suggests he may be running out of options, so if Conte and Moyes really are interested, they can surely convince him with the lure of European football.
Spurs have a mouthwatering Champions League Round of 16 clash against AC Milan to look forward to, while West Ham managed to reach the Round of 16 in the Europa Conference League.
