West Ham United are now believed to be rivalling Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Borussia Monchengladbach star Matthias Ginter.

Sky Germany reported on Monday evening that Aston Villa have registered their interest in signing Ginter.

Unfortunately for Villa, Ginter is allegedly waiting for better offers with his contract expiring this summer.

Many clubs will see Ginter as a great opportunity on a free transfer, and it seems other Premier League clubs are keen.

Sky Sports report that West Ham are keen on Ginter having scouted him recently, whilst Juventus and Tottenham are also interested.

Ginter, 28, has become a key player at Gladbach having arrived from Borussia Dortmund in 2017 and is now ready to move on.

Ginter has already announced that he is leaving this summer, and West Ham may now hope to convince him to join.

West Ham will be in the market for centre backs this summer with Craig Dawson into his 30’s and Angelo Ogbonna facing a tough road back from injury.

Ginter may be seen as the ideal partner for Kurt Zouma in West Ham’s back line, and his status as a free agent only makes him more appealing.

The problem for West Ham may be similar to Aston Villa’s; are they attractive enough to Ginter right now?

West Ham look set to miss out on the top four so unless they win the Europa League, they won’t have Champions League football to offer him.

Tottenham look more likely to have Champions League football right now and may see Ginter as ideal competition for Eric Dier in the heart of Antonio Conte’s back three.

Ginter will be inundated with offers this summer, and we would make Tottenham a better destination than Villa or West Ham as things stand.
