Aston Villa could overhaul their back line this summer with Borussia Monchengladbach star Matthias Ginter now on their wanted list.
That’s according to Sky Germany, who claim that Villa are trying to attract Ginter to Villa Park at the end of the season.
However, Ginter allegedly wants to wait for ‘a better offer’ and is willing to wait before committing to a move away from Gladbach.
Ginter is out of contract this summer and has already announced he is leaving on a free transfer.
Ginter, 28, has emerged as one of the top centre backs in Europe since joining Gladbach in the summer of 2017.
Despite struggling to shine at Borussia Dortmund, Ginter has found his top form with Gladbach and will now earn ab ig move.
It doesn’t seem like Villa is quite big enough for Ginter as things stand given that there will be now European action on offer at Villa Park.
Bayern Munich and Inter Milan are thought to be fighting it out for Ginter, which sums up what Villa are going up against.
Newcastle United are also believed to be keen on throwing money at Ginter this summer with PIF’s financial backing putting them in contention.
This is the kind of ambition Villa will show under Gerrard. Nobody really expected them to sign Philippe Coutinho or even Lucas Digne in January.

Steven Gerrard is a huge attraction at Villa Park and that means Villa will be able to compete for big signings.
In the case of Ginter though, it sounds like this is one transfer pursuit that isn’t quite going to go the way they want it to.
Compared to Sergio Ramos by the official Bundesliga website, Ginter is the kind of character Gerrard would love but he may simply have bigger offers.
This chase does though point towards Villa signing a couple of new centre backs this summer with The Mirror claiming that Ezri Konsa and Tyrone Mings could be axed.
Ginter would have been a quality replacement for one of them, but it sounds like this move is tricky for Villa to pull off.
