Tottenham are reportedly rivalling Everton and Borussia Dortmund for Ajax sensation Mohammed Kudus ahead of the January transfer window – a player that Rafael van der Vaart said he is “huge fan of” this week, after scoring again.

Kudus, 22, has been sensational form this season. Coming into this campaign, his third with Ajax, he had only scored five times in 42 games in all competitions. But this season, he has amassed an impressive eight goals in 12 games.

In Ajax’s three Champions League games, he has scored. Wonderful goals against Liverpool and Rangers, but his goal against Napoli was one of fortune – shot hitting him and going in. It was a consolation too, with Napoli winning 6-1.

German newspaper Bild claim that Tottenham, Everton and Dortmund all want to sign the Ghana international. A player that Bild says has a value of just £8.8million. Van der Vaart was quoted by Football Ghana: “I am a huge fan of Kudus.”

Tottenham rivalling Everton for Kudus: Van der Vaart a huge fan

Kudus is a sensational player. A player that is still only 22, he is able to play in numerous positions in the final third. Even deeper in the middle of the park. Bild claim he is worth £8.8million. But he is likely to be worth far more than that.

The star has a contract at Ajax until the summer of 2025. With his goals in the Champions League, and his form in the Eredivisie, his value is going to rocket. Last season, Antony scored 12 goals for Ajax – and went for £85million.

While Kudus is not going to command a fee of that region, there is no reason why he could be worth three or four times what Bild claim he is valued at. Hard-working, versatile, he suits Conte’s criteria in terms of making a signing.
