Tottenham Hotspur are going nowhere in their pursuit of Piero Hincapie.

At least, that’s the view of a Bild journalist.

According to Christian Falk, the Bayer Leverkusen central defender remains very much a target for Spurs.

Tottenham have been linked with the Ecuador international quite a lot in recent weeks.

And according to The Sun last week, as covered by HITC Sport, the Lilywhites were weighing up an offer.

Although Falk claims that prising him from Germany will be difficult this month, he claims that a summer pursuit is a lot more probable.

He told Give Me Sport about the powerhouse: “€40 million was the offer we heard that Tottenham made last summer. At this time, the club didn’t want to sell him. But every season, it’s more dangerous that they will lose him, and I think Tottenham will try again. I think it will be a topic for summer because they don’t want to sell him, Leverkusen, in the winter.”

Hincapie, labelled a ‘sensation’ by Ryan Taylor of The Express, is badly needed in North London.

Antonio Conte’s side lost 4-2 away to Manchester City last night, despite being two goals ahead at half time.

And the fourth goal that the visitors conceded summed up their defensive problems, when Clement Lenglet – on loan from Barcelona – gifted Riyad Mahrez his second of the evening.

Tottenham are in dire need of proper centre-backs and someone like Hincapie would fit the bill perfectly.
