Pedro Porro is on the cusp of joining Tottenham Hotspur.

According to Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, the Spain international has a ‘full verbal agreement’ with Spurs ahead of undergoing a medical with the North Londoners today.

Unfortunately though, his Sporting career ended in heartbreak.

Well, sort of.

Porro played 90 minutes on Saturday as his side lost a Portuguese League Cup final against Porto.

Failing to win trophies is something that will resonate with Tottenham supporters, who haven’t seen their side win anything since 2008.

Even worse, this was the first time that Porto had won the Taca da Liga – somewhat unbelievably – and it just had to happen to a player bound for the Lilywhites.

This isn’t quite in the realm of ‘Spursy‘ but it’s in the ballpark, for sure.

Porro and Sporting went down 2-0 on the day and the player himself looked to have bid farewell to his supporters after the game, as covered by HITC Sport.

Rival supporters will no doubt joke that losing cup finals is something that he should get used to, now that he’s joining Tottenham.

And although it’s fair to say that Antonio Conte’s side aren’t scaling the heights expected of them this season, the Italian manager still boasts a lot of excellent footballers.

And hopefully for Spurs’ sake, that list is about to grow by the imminent signing of Porro.
