II Mattino have reported that Tottenham Hotspur sporting director, Fabio Paratici held a phone call with Serie A side Salernitana over a loan deal involving Pape Matar Sarr in January.
Recently, it seems like Matar Sarr was set to pen his redemption arc at Tottenham, with the youngster impressing his cameo against Crystal Palace in his side’s 4-0 victory.
The 20-year-old was praised by Spurs fans online for keeping things ticking, looking composed in pressure situations and standing out technically in defensive midfield.
Antonio Conte also went on to hail Pape Matar Sarr, referring to him as a ‘really reliable player.’
However, Salernitana sporting director, Morgan de Sanctis recently admitted that the club believe Matar Sarr has the ‘characteristics’ they are looking for, as they aim to bring him on loan in January (via Tuttomercatoweb).
Calciomercato had even claimed 2 weeks ago that the club were looking to sign the starlet on a permanent deal.
Tottenham supporters can breathe a sigh of relief, as it has been reported that Conte himself is ready to block the deal from going through.
Now, another update has surfaced around the immediate future of the wonderkid.
Tottenham director Fabio Paratici holds phone call over Pape Matar Sarr loan deal with Salernitana

According to a new report by II Mattino, Tottenham director Fabio Paratici had a phone call with Salernitana over a loan move involving Pape Matar Sarr in January.
However, Paratici informed the Italian side that the club had no plans to loan out Matar Sarr, as he is supposed to play a key part in the side during the second half of the 2022/2023 season.
Now, it is high-time that the highly-rated midfielder repays the faith put into him at Spurs by coming into his own.
Clearly, the young buck, who joined the club for £14.6 million (Sky Sports) in 2021 is blessed with bags of talent.
But as Tottenham director Fabio Paratici told Salernitana in the mutually arranged phone call that Pape Matar Sarr is here to stay instead of head on loan, the onus is on him to stand out.
