Inter Milan are reportedly preparing a summer offer to beat Tottenham to FC Barcelona star Franck Kessie, with the midfielder keen to sign for the Italian giants.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Nerazzuri are readying a loan-to-buy offer for Kessie having missed out on the midfielder in the January transfer window, with Tottenham also chasing the Ivory Coast international despite signing for Barcelona just over six months ago.

Kessie joined the Catalan giants in the summer having left AC Milan as a free agent, yet despite his impressive qualities, the midfielder has struggled to break into Xavi Hernandez’s first-team plans, with the Barcelona boss preferring the likes of Gavi and Pedri in the middle of the park.

As a result, a summer move is already being touted for Kessie as Barcelona look to make a profit from the 26-year-old superstar, with Inter now establishing themselves as the favourites to sign the midfielder with a loan offer that includes a €30m (£25m) option to make the deal permanent.

Indeed, the news will come as a significant blow for Tottenham, with Perry Groves claiming that Kessie was ‘perfect’ for Antonio Conte’s system during the height of the midfielder’s links to north London. However, a return to Milan with Inter now feels more plausible.

Whilst Kessie would be a brilliant signing for Conte, it seems evident that a move back to Italy is what the Ivorian actually wants this summer, and with Inter now preparing an offer, it feels like a matter of time before the midfielder is back at the San Siro and playing for the Nerazzurri.

Not many would have predicted Kessie to leave Barcelona after just one season, let alone to Milan’s fierce rivals Inter. Yet this is the timeline we now find ourselves in, and the midfielder returning to Lombardy feels inevitable despite serious interest from Tottenham.

Although the Premier League could be a fantastic challenge for the midfielder, Kessie is seemingly intent on returning to Italy to play for Inter, where his relationship with supporters will already be questionable given his previous ties to the Rossoneri in the last few years.
