Perry Groves has said on talkSPORT that Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur should sign Franck Kessie from Barcelona in the January transfer window.

The former Arsenal star has outlined how Barcelona midfielder Kessie would make Tottenham better and why the former AC Milan star would fit Antonio Conte’s style.

Kessie has actually been linked with a move to Spurs in the January transfer window.

Alfredo Martínez, a journalist for Onda Cero, said on Radioestadio Noche last week that Tottenham have made a bid for the Ivory Coast international midfielder, who earns £69,000 per week (SalarySport) at Barcelona at the moment.

Tottenham Hotspur told to sign Franck Kessie from Barcelona

Groves said about Kessie and Tottenham, as transcribed by ThisisFutbol: “He fits, you look at him, he scored a lot of goals from midfield for AC Milan.

“He’s 6ft, to be fair. Antonio Conte likes big players, and when we’ve looked at Spurs before, most of their players are 6ft, 6ft-plus.

“He actually fits their remit perfectly, because they need a threat from midfield, they need a goalscoring threat from midfield and someone who likes to break forward.”

Could a transfer happen in January?

In our opinion, Tottenham Hotspur will have to work extremely hard to sign Franck Kessie from Barcelona in the January transfer window.

Yes, Tottenham have made a bid to Barcelona for a player they signed on a free transfer in the summer of 2022, but that does not mean that the former La Liga and UEFA Champions League winners will sell him.

After all, Barcelona are aiming to win the La Liga title this season, and head coach Xavi may not want to lose any of his players in the middle of the campaign.

Kessie himself may not be keen on leaving one of the biggest and most historic clubs in the middle of the season even though he has not had the best of times at Camp Nou so far this season.

The 26-year-old has made two starts and five substitute appearances in La Liga and has made three starts and three substitute appearances in the UEFA Champions League for Barcelona this season.
