Clinton Morrison praised Adama Traore for his ability to cause ‘problems’ as Wolves lost at Nottingham Forest. The winger is a transfer target of Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Wolves bowed out of the Carabao Cup in the quarter-finals on Wednesday night at the City Ground. Raul Jimenez (64’) scored to get his Molineux side level after his former teammate Willy Boly (18’) broke the deadlock. But Nottingham Forest would triumph 4-3 on penalties.

Julen Lopetegui did not start Traore at Nottingham Forest and only introduced the forward in the 75th minute. The Spaniard has seldom utilised his compatriot since replacing Bruno Lage at Wolves. Wednesday marked Traore’s sixth outing, of which he has started just one.

Traore earned his only start so far under Lopetegui as Wolves drew 2-2 at Liverpool in the FA Cup. He also featured for 45 minutes against Gillingham in the Carabao Cup and has so far played 118 minutes of Premier League football over three appearances as a substitute.

Lage had also only afforded the 26-year-old a combined 181 minutes over six appearances in all competitions this season. He only played Traore for 119 minutes in the top-flight over five matches off the bench. The winger started and scored against Preston in the EFL Cup.

Leeds are rivalling Tottenham to secure Traore’s transfer from Wolves

Traore enjoyed his best run in the Wolves line-up during Steve Davis’ run as their caretaker manager. He started six of seven available Premier League games and a Carabao Cup tie. The winger also scored at Crystal Palace to break the deadlock but Wolves would lose 2-1.

Yet as the eight-cap Spain international is out of contract in June, he is earning interest in a possible move. TEAMtalk reports Leeds sporting director Victor Orta is positing the Whites for Traore’s transfer from Wolves. The forward is also eager to stay in the Premier League.

But 90min, which also cites Leeds’ interest, adds that Tottenham are also interested in the transfer of Wolves winger Traore. Spurs boss Antonio Conte is a big fan of the £55k-a-week dynamo. One whom former Republic of Ireland striker Morrison rates highly at his best.

“Traore is so quick,” he said on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra. “When he is in the mood, he will cause [Renan] Lodi problems. But if he is not in the mood, it will be easy for Lodi.”
