Harry Kane expected to leave Tottenham amid interest from Manchester City this summer to the point he said goodbye to players and staff at the end of last season, per Eurosport.

Kane produced a magnificent 2020/21 campaign to win the Premier League’s Golden Boot and produce the most assists. He was the first player in 22 years and only the third to ever win both in the same season.

But while Kane expected his 23-goal, 14-assist haul to be his last for Tottenham, he is still waiting for a move to Manchester City. And his decision to skip pre-season training has only incensed Daniel Levy even more. The Spurs Chairman was already angered by his interview with Sky and reports by The Sun of a £160m transfer.

Eurosport claim Levy is now more determined than ever to keep Kane at Tottenham and from Manchester City’s clutches. But parts of the Spurs squad already expected to never see Kane in training from the end of last season.

Players believed Kane’s Tottenham career was over from the way that he thanked them and other staff members. The 28-year-old then joined the England squad for Euro 2020, and was due to return to Hotspur Way this week.

But he has opted to stay away until later in the week, when Fabrizio Romano believes Kane will speak with Tottenham to discuss his unresolved issues. He may also discuss a move to Manchester City, who the Daily Star report are prepared to pay £120m.

The Daily Star add Levy wants £160m, while Eurosport note Manchester City have not made Tottenham an offer for Kane. Talks have taken place, however, as Pep Guardiola’s side sought to discuss potential payment structures.

Is Kane backing Levy into a corner over Tottenham future and Manchester City move?

Kane could be backing Levy into a corner the Tottenham striker does not want if he’s to join Manchester City. The forward’s actions are infuriating the Spurs Chairman and only serving to strengthen his intentions of blocking a move.

With Guardiola’s side also unwilling to rise to Levy’s price, Kane could find himself having to return to Hotspur Way. Then, the 61-cap international may have some uncomfortable talks with his teammates if they truly believed he was already gone.

It will likely not take Kane long to get Tottenham’s players and staff back on side if he can put a move to Manchester City in the rear-view mirror and thrives next season. But his wish to go is increasingly clear and the impacts may be too large.
