Ray Parlour thinks Harry Redknapp would be a ‘perfect’ number two for Ryan Mason if he is handed the keys to Tottenham Hotspur’s dugout until the end of the season.
It seems likely that Daniel Levy will sack Antonio Conte during the international break following his outburst, with suggestions that Ryan Mason can come in and fill the void until the end of the season.
The 31-year-old did just that when Jose Mourinho was sacked, so this wouldn’t be a case of a fish jumping out of the water for the Englishman.
But still, Mason’s lack of experience and know-how could be determinantal to Tottenham’s hopes of securing Champions League football, with Newcastle United, Liverpool and Brighton (all with games in hand) hunting them down.
As a result, should Levy look to provide some outside help for Mason to get Spurs over that Champions League line?
Well, Ray Parlour certainly thinks so because he feels 76-year-old Harry Redknapp, who is 45 years older than Ryan Mason, should be brought in as part of his backroom staff, as he told talkSPORT.
“I said to the guys ‘if Ryan Mason is being mentioned’,” said Parlour. “Obviously, he knows the club and he knows certain players, then I said ‘do you know who will be perfect with Ryan Mason? Harry Redknapp’.”
HARRY REDKNAPP WOULD BE A WISE MOVE
If the Tottenham dressing room has been turned upside down by Conte and he needs to be sacked, then perhaps bringing in Harry Redknapp wouldn’t be a bad idea.
Unless Levy can draft in some of the big-name candidates right now, such as Mauricio Pochettino, Thomas Tuchel or Luis Enrique, then he is, more than likely, going to push with Mason for the short-term.
As a result, having Redknapp in the background will only help the team because it does seem like they need a bit of a push from within.
