According to The Telegraph this evening, Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy is set to let Antonio Conte leave in the coming days.

Daniel Levy makes Antonio Conte decision after Tottenham outburst

The report published at 8:28pm today has claimed that Tottenham “are expected” to “agree” Conte’s “departure from the club this week”.

Levy has been asking “some of his closest confidants” about the situation following Conte’s outburst this past weekend.

Following Tottenham’s failure to win against Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday, Conte slammed his players and also took a dig at the hierarchy.

The Telegraph are now reporting that Tottenham plan to move Conte on this week, with “Ryan Mason most likely be put in temporary charge until the end of the season in time for Tottenham’s next game against Everton on April 3”.

Big move

In our view, if Antonio Conte does leave Tottenham Hotspur now, then it will be a big risk for the North London club.

Okay, Ryan Mason has been in temporary charge of the Spurs first team before, but at the moment there is a very good chance that the North London club could still finish in the Premier League top four this season.

True, Tottenham’s performances under Conte have not been great, and the team have also lacked consistency.

But, letting go of a world-class manager such as Conte and putting Mason in charge for the rest of the season will be a big risk.
